2023 May Motocross at Long Buckby 21/05/23

For the recent record attendance of over 180 riders, the Long Buckby National track had once again been prepared superbly by Bud’s track team. The big programme of races ran smoothly and without delay all day. The new Ladies class had sufficient entries to warrant their own separate race, long may this continue.

Jamie Richmond showed class once again, as well as some incredible corner speed on his way to 3 straight victoried in the Expert class. Despite taking 2nd in the first 2 races, Russell Griffiths finished third overall behind Reece Wain after lower finish in the final leg. In the Junior A group Brett Wykes won both finals. Gavin Jakeman and Tyler Etheridge tied on points for second and third overall. Ashley Bright took first overall in the Junior B class with consistent second places. Race winners Troy Montgomery and Jack Roberts finished second and third overall.

The Premier O40 class was dominated by Dale Phillips. Three wins gave him overall victory from Yan Howells and Lindsay Judge. Similarly dominant in the Elite O50 class, Rob Mead took all 3 race wins. In a close fought battle for second overall, Justin Carter just edged out Bruce Garside by a single point. The Super O60 class had the top three overall all taking a race win each. Steve Brough finished first over all ahead of Stephen Gilbey and Barry Burbidge. The U40 class saw Sean Frayne take all three wins and the overall. Second on the podium went to George Clarke ahead of Ashley Bright.

Reece Wain took three straight victories in the 2 Stroke class from Adam Hayward and Matt Willis. In the new Ladies class victory went to Georgia Potter who won all three motos. Renee Adshead and Naomi Dolby tied on points for second and third overall. Our next meeting is on June 18th.
