2015 SMC Season Finale at Long Buckby National Track with NMCC

For the final race of the 2015 season, the Long Buckby track was at its magnificent best. As well as full line-ups in almost every class, the club also welcomed the Eastern Centre EVO series for their final round. To keep things interesting the circuit was run in reverse direction for the first time in at least twenty years, which proved very popular with the riders. Racing was close and exciting in every class with the new layout having some more technical sections than the traditional route. Heavy rain earlier in the week made sure that dust was not an issue, the famous red soil of Northamptonshire providing plenty of grip where needed.

Michael McClurg took the overall win in the Expert class, after some very close racing with Paul Edge and Luke Spence. Kristian Hutchings won both the Junior A finals closely followed by Ash Hutchings. Robbie Hollis took third overall by a single point from Kyle Creevy who got faster as the day went on. Aaron Read won the B class after just taking the win in the final race on the last lap from Jason Mills who ended up fourth overall. Race one winner Andrew Mason took second from a consistent finishing Rob Harwood.

Ryan Griffiths finished the season in dominant form, taking wins in all three of the Premier Class races. Adam Collins finished second each time, as traditional class winner Tony Leishman suffered from a number of uncharacteristic incidents that kept him off the podium.  Greg Cox twice edged out Richard Wright with some late in the race charges to take overall victory in the Elite Class. Steve Gilbey watched the action from a safe third place each time, preferring not to get involved. In the Super Class Nigel Miller once again proved unbeatable, taking three wins ahead of Reg Willis and Richard Jochacy. To keep the lap scoring simple, this class agreed to finish in the same positions all day..

Providing both great racing and extra interest for the spectators, the Easter EVO series raced Long Buckby for the first time. Gary Gladwin took the first two class wins and the overall from Nick Carter. Third place finishing Jason Morettes was not to be denied the win in the final leg as he finished off the championship in style. Kyle Creevy won the U40 class from Jack Lee, though the positons were reversed in the 2 stroke class.
